What you see before you is an as yet unreleased cologne, a new Calvin Klein product called ckfree for men. Matchstick sent out the invitation again, I accepted, and here we are...I'm tickled to think that I'm one of the first people to have a smell.
I like Calvin Klein. I've always used Contradiction for men - it's one of those harder edged scents that still reminds people that you're a man. These bottles last forever. But then again, I don't drown myself in this stuff. There's something decidedly unseemly about dousing yourself in perfume, announcing your presence by aroma before ever you are seen. What are you trying to hide? Take it easy. And is there still a real man who doesn't wear Giorgio Armani Aqua di Gio?? Ridiculous. It's not a manly scent when every prick in the city wears it, from 16 to 60.
Ok, moving on. I like the packaging. Clean, unfussy. Clear glass always works. The scent is agreeable. Clean, subtle - when the alcohol blows off, there's a weight and oily aroma to it that is, yes, quite masculine. But perfume really changes depending on the one who wears it, and I think it works on me.
So there you have it. Check it out, when it arrives in stores. I stopped wearing a lot of perfume though, ever since I've been serious about wine. But it's not about me. Check it out.
