2008 Vouvray

2008 Bougrier

2008 Jean-Claude Bougrier, AC Vouvray

A simple wine, to start off a year where unnecessary spending is no longer sexy or funny. At $15, still a bit higher than I'd like, but it's a start.

Light in colour, but with a balance that makes the wine more than just drinkable. A touch of residual sugar that integrates extremely well over 24 hours. It's the acidity that makes the wine - bracing, but the sugar gives the wine body.

I think I can be perfectly happy drinking these wines. For $15, there are better examples. But for drinking, simple and balanced wines are all you really need.
