I finished preparing tonight's wines. A 1995 Pomerol, and a 1995 Pommard. Decanted both, to check for any faults, as well as to filter out the sediment. Decanters are on ice, because heat degrades these older wines quickly. I had a taste of both, and at the moment, both wines seem a bit tired. Hopefully, they'll fill out a bit in time for dinner. The bottles have been rinsed out, and are drying - once my guests start arriving, I'll decant the wines back into the bottle. It's a better presentation, as well as identifies which wines you're pouring.
Keeping fingers crossed - at least the wines aren't flawed. Hopefully they'll start showing some life by 6.
