NV Justino's Fine Rich Madeira
Finishing dinner off with two sweet wines - this was the first one. A Madeira, nonvintage. Of course as you all know, Madeira is an island off the coast of Portugal which produces these sweet wines - they have the distinction of being nearly indestructible. Just a very, very sturdy wine.
Dark amber, bouquet remarkably similar to a sweet vermouth. Licorice, herbal, vanilla...very sweet on the palate. A good drink, but maybe this wasn't the best example. If only LCBO could get its act together and start bringing in more Madeira - a wine that I would very much like to drink and understand more of.
