A man of salt

Taken in the city of HangZhou, in an old district called HeFangJie. An ancient marketplace, where all the 18th century structures have been restored to their former majesty.

A mural describing the Hu family of HangZhou. In imperial China, this family was the richest in the city - they were salt merchants, and eventually expanded their empire, even gaining influence in the imperial court. Sadly, for them, it all cannot fight fate. But the family name, and its fame, live on.
