Pudong, Shanghai

Pudong skyline

And on the eastern shore of the HuangPu River, facing The Bund, the skyline of Pudong. A completely different character, the modern and exciting face of the new China. A few notable landmarks, starting from the left - the Oriental Pearl Tower being the most widely recognized. In the middle, the two tallest buildings are JinMao Tower, and the newly built Shanghai World Financial Centre. A third building will soon be erected alongside, reaching even higher to complete the SWFC, becoming one of the highest structures in the world.

A humid, rainy day when we walked along The Bund. This is what it actually looked like - you could barely make out the tops of the buildings. I suppose I could process the photos to show more definition, but I'm neither talented, or kitsch enough to do so. The old barge slowly making its way up the Huangpu River adds a nice touch.
