Pulling hard

I'm writing as I watch a just-released Chinese film set during the anti-Japanese war, old Shanghai. How appropriate. This photo shows a very well-known building in Shanghai, very old. It's a neighbourhood that my mother used to frequent as a young girl. The characters describe the name of the company - this building used to be the site of a publisher of children's books, Madame Song Qing-Ling being the proprietor. These men working hard, carting construction materials no doubt. Amidst the traffic, the bustle, a glimpse of the old at work. Good men.
