2006 Château Fongaban, AC Côtes de Castillon
Back to wine! Took a lot of time off from writing about wine to develop. I want to keep being eloquent and articulate about wine, without resorting to the usual tricks that far too many supposed wine writers turn to.
A 2006 claret. Beautiful colour, not too dark, fully saturated. Has all the pure fruit, subtle oak, and savoury character of true Bordeaux. Rustic, with that fantastically pinpoint graphite minerality. Elegant at the moment, but so, so young. I still believe in Bordeaux, regardless what the fashion is now - so called wine geeks bashing the entire region for blindly turning to commercialism. That's a bit unfair. Especially when good, value wines like this are still being produced.
