Lingyin Temple

Two insanities to note in this photo. Focus on the cauldron in the centre, as well as the fire stand to the left. I thought incense was never to catch on fire - you were to light it so that the smoke would carry your prayers to heaven, not render it into a torch. The fool on the left is doing just that, completely flamethrowing his incense. The other fool to the left of the cauldron is no better - not only was his incense on fire, he proceeded to hold it to his forehead, bowing to all four sides. What is this, some earth cult ritual? Praying to the four winds?

Religion in China turns you into a straight fool.
