2008 Mosel

2008 Studert-Prüm Riesling Kabinett, QmP Graacher Himmelreich, Mosel

Young rieslings from the Mosel always remind me of fireworks and lightning. This one, drunk far too young, but nevertheless one of the most exciting wines in recent memory. Just bright streams of minerality, citrus fruit, and acidity, tightly woven together, soaring and exploding all across the palate. Rich too, good creaminess - the 2008's I've been drinking so far all show the characteristic overt minerality and high acidity of the Mosel, but with much riper fruit. These are wines built to age - the high sugar and acid levels ensure that this will be stunning in 10 years. Mon Dieu I love these wines.
