2009 Domaine Des Ailes, AC Moulin-à-Vent
Oh my goodness, one of the worst things about wine bloggers is this insistence on writing about cru Beaujolais, and how it's under-appreciated, misunderstood, and one of France's best secrets. Yes, proper Beaujolais is nice, but hardly life changing. A lot's been written about the 2009 vintage here, but come on, it's gamay. There's a reason it was booted out of red Burgundy.
Not a bad wine, ripe fruit, good herbal character. Moulin-à-Vent is always more elegant, with finer tannins - this is certainly enjoyable. Let's just keep things in perspective.
