These pink wines from the Rhône are the best. And I've neglected them for far too long.
Cheap and cheerful, but some of the best rosés from the south of France are very serious wines indeed. This is one that I really enjoy. That bright, fresh red fruit, incredibly floral and perfumed. Finely structured, with a nice viscosity on the palate. These wines are just a joy to drink, and sing of warm sunshine and celebration. I clearly need to be drinking more pink. All the more appropriate now, that I've finished with studying, and am fully ready for a good, long, and hot summer.
Something really interesting coming up - how do these wines age? I (for some reason) put away a bottle of 2006 Château D'Aqueria Tavel a few years ago, and with about 5 years of bottle age on it, it's time to see what's up. With these bigger, more structured wines, I might be in for a surprise. I'm ready for a summer of rosé!
